  1. COVID 19 Training for Healthcare Workers - The Need of The Hour

  2. Even as 2020 draws to a close, the COVID 19 pandemic continues to rage throughout the world. The high rates of infection have truly burdened healthcare systems across countries. Doctors, nurses, and other ancillary health care workers have put their own well-being on the line to save countless lives. • Medical professionals often find themselves pulling long hours at work with barely anytime for themselves. They may thus find it difficult to make time for continuing medical education so that they can offer the best treatment to patients as well as advance in their careers.

  3. Yet, in the current global pandemic, doctors need to continue learning so that they can save lives while also staying safe themselves. COVID 19 training is thus, the need of the hour. • Healthcare professionals do face a high risk of contracting infection as they come into regular contact with suspect and confirmed COVID 19 cases almost daily. Thus, they need proper COVID 19 training on how to keep themselves safe from infection. For instance, they need to be trained on the proper practices to be followed while wearing, removing and disposing off personal protective equipment (PPE). Not just that, hospitals and other medical centres need to ensure that they have sufficient stock of PPE kits so that no healthcare professional has to put their own well-being at risk in the course of their duties.

  4. Furthermore, doctors and other healthcare workers also need to constantly stay updated with the latest research on COVID 19. They must be kept aware of the symptoms and safety practices to be followed. They must also be trained on dealing with COVID 19 infections across different segments of the population, such as pregnant women, children, the elderly, people living with HIV, and so on. This indeed calls for in-depth training in a limited time-span and yet, is so crucial.

  5. Additionally, the needs of field healthcare workers should not be forgotten. They also need to receive COVID 19 training on how to conduct surveillance in the community and on how to address people and families impacted by infection. Emergency health response staff especially need training on how to handle specific situations as well as on how to stay safe from infection themselves.

  6. Given the current health crisis, medical workers need access to reliable sources of information in order to stay safe while offering health services. In this regard, Medical Learning Hub (MLH) offers a range of COVID 19 training courses and webinars online so that healthcare professionals can learn from the safety of their homes or clinics. The MLH COVID 19 training courses cover topics such as use of Remdesivir in treating patients with COVID 19, mental health effects of the COVID 19 pandemic, pregnancy and COVID 19, reinfection of COVID 19 patients, clinical management of COVID 19, laboratory diagnosis of COVID 19, infection prevention and control for COVID 19, training doctors for COVID 19 response, and more.
