  2. Purpose of Project purpose Why I chose this project • The purpose of this project is to show how are earthquake created and what are the causes after the earthquakes. • I chose this project to see why are earthquakes so deadly.

  3. Summary of project • My project will show: What are earthquake and show the most destructive earthquake. The earthquake on Haiti. I will also show what causes earthquakes and how are they scaled, also what are other things may be caused during or after an earthquake.

  4. What is an earthquake? • “Earthquakes, also called temblors, can be so tremendously destructive; it’s hard to imagine they occur by the thousands every day around the world, usually in the form of small tremors.” – Mosanori Kobayashi

  5. Earthquake on haiti • This earthquake on Haiti caused a major disaster and the results of deaths and injures are high. • More than 316,000 deaths and 300,000 are injured and more than 1 million people homeless.

  6. How are Earthquakes created? • Earthquakes happens when earth’s upper layer strikes another layer. One of the earth’s layer goes down and the other goes up making a mountain when finishing.

  7. How are earthquakes created? • Most of the earthquakes do not create a mountain they just shake on the place they strike. Even thought they shake it could still be deadly, if your in a building, the pieces of roofs may fall of and you may be at risk of getting hit by one.

  8. How to scale earthquake • Since some earthquake are stronger than others that’s why they scaled them from 1-8. 1-4 is that it does not feel or is moderate , 5-6 means that is strong. 7-8 is very strong and extreme.

  9. After the earthquake • When and earthquake finishes there may be a aftershock of a 1.0-5.0 or stronger. If the earthquake happens in the water it will cause a tsunami. Some earthquakes causes volcanoes to erupt.

  10. How to be ready for an earthquake. • School’s table are reinforced with a metal pipe in the middle so it does not break. Another way to protect yourself or your family is having a earthquake preparation kit.

  11. In my community • This could be useful to warn people and this could to teach kids what makes earthquake and how to be ready for one. • This could useful to teachers for education. • This could useful to parents and child to show what are the stuff you need and be ready for one.
