  1. 6 Tips to STAY HEALTHIER and COOLER this Summer! Beat the heat this season with these simple smarty tips. With the temperatures soaring from April, gear up to keep yourself away from energy drain off, infections, nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure and prickly heat. While we cannot control the temperature outside, we can do everything to regulate the temperature of our bodies. Humans are endothermic animals –we have the ability to control our temperature independent of our environment. Hydrate and Rejuvenate: This is rule number one. Rising temperatures is sure to peak your sweating. Water is extremely important to keep your body functioning normally. Sweating can reduce your energy levels and drain you of electrolytes. Sip on water that is flavoured in mineral rich fruits like watermelon, lemon and kiwis and home - made drinks with cucumber.  Eat light and regular: It is not a good thing to eat heavy meals as your body heats up  again trying to process the extra fat and calories. Summer usually brings down one’s appetite. However, it is important for you to retain your nutrient levels to keep yourself away from infection and other diseases. Green veggies and fruits of any kind are a great source of those nutrients. Avoid proteins like red meat and eggs and go low on salt. Cold Water: Nothing helps like a cold water shower in reducing or regulating your  body temperature in this heat. You can also wash your face and feet before going to sleep or use an ice pack on your neck. Frequent wiping with a cold towel also helps a great deal.

  2. Darker is Cooler: Too many lights in a room also increases heat. Switch off unwanted  bulbs and lights and keep the curtains closed if you see the harsh rays of the sun penetrating into the room. Concrete building and top floors can actually make the situation worse as they trap the heat inside. Air circulation is also a must. Summer clothing: No wonder cotton is the most popular clothing material in summer.  It offers great air circulation, absorbs sweat and lets it evaporate easily too. So go for that wardrobe overhaul, this time around you are not doing retail therapy. Don’t over exert: The fitness freak in you may be pushing for that extra mile of in  your morning or evening run. But take that as a warning sign and don’t do it. You may be burning more calories and sweating more than usual resulting in dehydration. Alternatively, you can hit the gym or engage in indoor activities to keep yourself fit and engaged. Summer is fun when you are prepared for it. Small changes in your daily eating habits and precautions to keep your body cooler will have you thoroughly enjoy the season. Happy Summer from everyone at Medall!
