  1. Be Sure To Know The Vets In Your Area Pet owners love their animals and it is not uncommon for them to refer to “my animal family member” or “my fur baby” and similar words and expressions to show their care and how they cherish their pets. This means, further, that the responsible pet owner will always ensure their pets are safe, loved, looked after, and fed the proper diet. You also want to know your new kitten or puppy, or adult or senior pet is well, healthy and happy, and not suffering discomfort or pain. Much like we take ourselves and our children to the doctor when we are unwell, or as much as we schedule regular check-ups such as mammograms and prostate check-ups, it is important to make sure our pets are checked by the vet and their assistants for any potential problems, also when we believe them to be in perfectly good health. It is important to know that we do everything possible to see the vet about preventative care too – not only when the pet seems to be fine. Therefore it is important to know who the vets in your region are, and preferably the best vets, those that come recommended and are spoken highly of by members of the community, whether you live in London, Manchester, San Francisco, or Greeley, CO for that matter. A good vet is one that offers great knowledge and experience in terms of how they deal with pets and their owners, and the services they offer. A few points are made that owners may want to remember about their pets’ care: Most will probably agree that the pet needs their first exposure to the vet when they are still only a few weeks old so that the vet can compile a profile for them, which they can refer to over the coming years and add detail to so they can keep a close check on the animal and his/her specific issues and possible ailments. This early visit sets the tone for the future, for both vet and pet to get used to each other; Talk to your vet about regular check-ups and wellness tests and exams, which will ensure problems are picked up early, often early enough to prevent further health issues for the pet; If you do not want your pets to have (more) babies, be sure to arrange for a visit to the vet to have them spayed or neutered. It is a fairly straightforward procedure and very often you can fetch your pet later on the same day with some care instructions to be sure they are looked after properly. This is to make sure there are no unwanted pregnancies in future; your pet recovers quickly and returns to its normal self with no

  2. problems, even if some of them are reported to become calmer which, for many, is a positive; You want to know that the vet you will let your pet visit all the years of their life is well experienced in various fields, also when it comes to surgeries, no matter whether these may be emergency surgeries to correct a broken leg, other injuries to their body – or a planned surgery to correct issues; Be sure your vet of choice can offer you advice and information about different breeds and their diets, for example, so you will know what you should feed your puppy or kitten, or adult pet. It is important as the correct diet helps them stay healthy for longer. The above are mere tips for the pet owner. Of course, there are others, also when you own a special needs animal. Make sure you feel comfortable with the vet you take your pets to. It is a responsibility.
