  1. TWO NEW TYPES OF RESERVATION IN INDIA READY TO BE INTRODUCED

  2. IITs start quota-based faculty recruitment in senior positions AND 75% reservation in private sector in Haryana

  3. Quota Based Associate Professor and Professors will be hired for IITs. "What will happen if we are not able to find meritorious candidates on reserved posts?" Said a Senior Official at IIT-Delhi

  4. 75 per cent reservation for those having domicile certificates and seeking private sector jobs that offer a monthly salary of less than Rs 50,000 a month.

  5. This is a restrictive practice which will challenge hiring of the best and skilled employees. This will also set a wrong precedent for other states. The government should find some other means to increase employment and livelihood.

  6. A committee set up in June last year to provide suggestions on implementation of reservation in central education institutes, said that the IITs should be exempted from reservation since they were institutes of national importance.

  7. The committee also said that each IIT’s board should be authorised to take decisions on quota-based hiring and the positions of associate professor and professor should be exempted from the same.
