Authorities Target Warehouses for Breaches of Fire-Safety Rules Dubai: Dubai protection Director Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroshi has said that new precautionary measures are going to be taken in Dubai's warehouses and buildings to make sure safety from fire and accidents for workers and residents. A two-month inspection of 3,600 buildings found that the warehouses were in random storage and were getting used illegally as accommodation for workers. He said temporary accommodation of workers in buildings under construction could even be in danger of fireside .

  2. The new procedures are a part of the 'Safety First' campaign, which aims to make sure the security of occupants of buildings, warehouses and workers' accommodation. Al-Matroshi says that two months after the launch, about half the reported owners responded accommodation and fixing storage problems in their warehouses and installing a fireplace extinguisher. The number of accidents has decreased as there have been nine accidents in June and July this year. there have been nine accidents compared to 13 within the same month last year. The condition of most buildings still needs tons of improvement. Fire alarms and fire extinguishers in maintained, endangering the security of the occupants. “The systems are properly installed when buildings are constructed, but owners tend to ignore such fire extinguishers, while we request that they be repaired every six months,” he said. We will install the technology and equipment which will receive updates when the smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and other fire extinguishers are finally used and maintained, ”said Al Matroshi.
