Savannah

World Biomes

Temperature

The temperature can range from 75° F to 80° F. The annual average temperature is approximately 78° F. Some inland savannah’s can reach up to 120 °F.

Average temperatures:

Dry season: 70°F ; Wet season: 85°F

Limiting Factors

Because trees need a lot of water, many trees do not grow in savannahs because of the dry season.

During the dry season, lightning sometimes causes fires that burn the savannah.

Solar Insolation

6-8 month wet summer season and a 4-6 month dry winter season

Rainfall

Rainfall in savannahs range from 10 inches- 50 inches annually.

World Biomes

Serengeti Plains

Savannahs around the world.

Savannahs are being destroyed because of grazing cattle.

Serengeti Plains

Fire maintains the savannah by stimulating the grasses to grow.
