  • Field Trip - Perry's Victory Memorial, Old Port Clinton Lighthouse, Sandusky Harbor Pierhead Lighthouse, and South Bass Island Lighthouse.

  • The second grade students will be able to:

  • Locate Put-in-Bay Island.

  • Identify Perry’s Victory Memorial.

  • Explain why sailors need lighthouses.

  • Describe a typical lighthouse.

  • listen to the book The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge by Hildegarde H. Swift and Lynd Ward in a large group

  • read the book by themselves

  • discuss the story in small groups

Lights of the Lakes Slide Show

Lights of the Lakes is an hour-long slide presentation featuring the lighthouse photography of Phillip L. Block, who narrates the program.

  • 3. Sandusky Harbor Pierhead Lighthouse in Sandusky, Ohio

  • 4. South Bass Island Lighthouse on South Bass Island, Ohio
