  1. OVER 170 YEARS OF LEGACY JACOB’S CREEK WINES

  2. Introduction There are a few wine brands in Australia that have immensely contributed to bolstering the position of the country in the global wine markets. These brands have not only have marked their presence at the domestic front but also have won the hearts of many people across the globe. Today, we’re going to talk about one such brand that has a legacy of over 170 years in winemaking and has produced award-winning wines.

  3. History It started when a man named William Jacob settled on a small land in 1840 that was adjacent to a nameless creek. Little did he know, that it will be named after him and would become a prominent name in the Australian wine industry. The first vineyard was planted by Johann Gramp in 1847 followed by a small winery and an underground cellar. The first wine was produced in 1850 and since then they have flourished and amassed appreciation from critics for producing some of the best drops.

  4. Regions Given the brand’s popularity and success, we should know from where does it source grapes from. The grapes are obtained from three regions—Barossa Valley, Coonawarra and Adelaide Hills. Barossa receives ideal sunshine in the day and is blessed with cool nights. With sunlight, the grapes are fully riped and cool nights helps retain the colour and flavours.  Adelaide Hills receives plenty of rainfall and provides cool ripening conditions, best for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Coonawarra is famous for growing Cab Sav and provides a mild climate that results in fine-grained tannins in wines. This is precisely the reason for the region’s popularity.

  5. Winemaking After grapes are being harvested, it time to make wines that will leave you wanting for more. Winemaking is a crucial process and winemakers at Jacob’s Creek ensure they maintain the reputation of the brand for producing exceptional wines. Dan Swincer joined as winemaker in 2006, proving his talent he was promoted becoming Chief Winemaker in 2018. He gets help from another winemaker Trina Smith, she joined in 2016. She ensures that the fruit shines through the wine, retaining its vibrancy and freshness. You can get your hands on award-winning wines easily, buy wines and relish it with your friends and family.
