  2. Children are very curious and they are often unaware of the threat they face from electrical devices. More than 2,000 children are treated in emergency rooms due to only electrical shocks and burns every year as a result of tampering with electrical outlets. We are using so many electrical devices and gadgets at our home which makes our life more comfortable in so many ways, but it doesn’t mean that it is free from risks. Here are some tips to prevent electrical hazards at your home:

  3. 1. Basic Electrical Safety:- We depend on electricity, but sometimes underestimate its capability of causing injury. Most of the electrical accident happened at home due to lack of knowledge of basic electrical safety. It is our duty to check electrical equipment is properly connected, grounded and in good working order.

  4. 2. Make Electrical Outlets and Appliances Safe Make sure that all wiring for appliances and electronics is concealed in a way that the child cannot play with the wires. We should always check for outlets that have loose-fitting plugs, which can overheat and lead to a fire. Avoid overloading outlets with too many appliances. Replace any missing or broken wall plates. Ensure that there are safety covers on all unused outlets that are accessible to children.

  5. 3. Think Safety First • Use electrical cords properly, repair or replace damaged electrical cords. • keep electric appliances away from water. Be aware of electrical problems. • It is our duty to cover all electrical outlets and wall switches with cover • plates because covers prevent any contact between you and inside wiring.

  6. 4. Hire An Electrician For Electrical Inspection We should hire an electrician for regular inspections before an emergency takes place. In order to prevent fires and other safety hazards, it is necessary to get an electrical safety inspection. For electrical inspection, you should always hire a professional electrician.

  7. 5. What to do if an electrical accident happens At first, do not touch the victim body because you might get shocked too. Search an adult quickly. Turn off main switches or unplug the circuit. Call the helpline number or nearest emergency electrician. If the accident happens near to a power line or the transformer boxes, keep others away.

  8. Everyone has the right to work in a safe environment. At last, be safe at your home, if any electrical failure occurs at your home, immediately speak with a licenced electrician. You should also schedule an electrical home inspection for the safety of your home.
