  1. Introduce to George Gallego Meet George Gallego, a man on a mission to help the thousands of disabled people who are stuck in nursing homes unable to go home due to in accessibility

  2. How George Gallego changed his life • George Gallego Wheels of Progress the founder and CEO of Wheels of Progress. He has lived with a spinal cord injury since 1992. After years of coming to grips with his disability, he moved on to attend and manage a flight school on Long Island. For the past 4 years he has been a world-class athlete competing in triathlons around the world. mentors at Mount Sinai Hospital and other institutions where young persons with SCI are "housed" temporarily or even permanently.

  3. Founded Wheels of Progress • He founded Wheels of Progress, a nonprofit organization (501c3), as an alternative to institutional living. Wheels of Progress envision a world in which young people living with spinal cord injuries and other physical disabilities are no longer prisoners in nursing homes, in their homes, or in their minds but instead are able to develop the will and the skill to embrace their new reality and to reinvent their lives.

GEORGE GALLEGO Awarded By MRT • On January 10, 2013, I, George Gallego, Founder & CEO of Wheels of Progress, was invited to serve on New York State's Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT)-Affordable Housing Workgroup. • The MRT was created by Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2011 to develop recommendations to reduce costs and increase quality and efficiency in New York's Medicaid Program.
