  3. Challenge – an individual or group tries to have a book removed from a library or school. Banning – a successful challenge where a book is removed from a school or library.

  5. Why are books challenged? • To protect others from difficult information or ideas • The material was considered to be "sexually explicit“ • The material contained "offensive language“ • The material was "unsuited to any age group"
