Definitie Obstructief Slaap Apneu Syndroom (OSAS): • Polysomnografische diagnose • Herhaaldelijke apneus/hypopneus t.g.v. bovenste luchtweg obstructie: 5-10/uur slaap • Ernst: apneu/hypopneu index (AHI) • Gewoonlijk geassocieerd met een afname in bloed O2-saturatie (>4%) • Prevalentie: m 4%, v 2%

  11. Conclusie De huidige data suggereren een verband tussen OSAS en herseninfarct; dit verband lijkt pathofysiologisch te verklaren; er is echter (nog) geen statistisch significant verhoogde kans op een herseninfarct bij OSAS in een prospectief onderzoek aangetoond.
