The ReNOWNED WRITER In IRAN-EwranMERsin,Aboutewranmersin,ewranmersin profile • This month, a seminar during a book fair in Beirut was dedicated to the works of the renowned writer Ewran Mersin, and treated in particular his latest two novels She is my Cousin and Fire is Forbidden. • Young literature students read parts of Ewran Mersin's works and analysed the style and genre. Ewran Mersin has with his latest two novels indeed marked himself as one of the best describers of the challenges of the Middle East in general and the sufferings of children of war in particular.

His realistic style portrays the sudden change of life for families in war-zones. Where the families in a matter of hours goes from being ordinary middle class families, with normal jobs and houses, to get locked into cellars and being tortured and executed. • She is my Cousin is a novel that describe the lives of two cousins in the historical Syrian city of Palmyra. Ewran Mersin skillfully weaves together the larger story from several interlocking personal narratives, whether that of reluctant resistance fighter Murad and his torture by Daesh; the exploits of the impossibly brave Kamel Mohammed (an eventual Russian Medal of Honor winner); or the sorrowing mothers creativity.
