  4. OBJECTIVES • Coordination and planning of research in prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of cancer • Funding training programs in cancer • Creation of research programs in cancer • Collaboration with other organisations acting in the fight against cancer in Africa

  6. PERSPECTIVES • RESEARCH • Support research in cancer in Africa • Promote multicentric protocols in research on frequent cancers in Africa ( HepatoK, BL) • Specificity of some cancers found in Africa

  7. PERSPECTIVES • RESEARCH(Cont.) There are some fundamental conditions in research: Quality Human ressources Rigourous Financial ressources That is also another AORTIC challenge

PERSPECTIVES • TRAINING • Specialists in cancer management are few • There are countries without any medical Oncologist nor Radiotherapist or Pathologist … • Some African nursing schools do not provide any training programs in using antimitotics drugs, care in radiotherapy unit or palliative care .

AORTIC will start to train Doctors and Nurses in cancer management AORTIC will organise scientific meetings like Congress , Seminars and workshops at national or continental level AORTIC will support countries who have national training program like Senegal Cameroon Congo Brazzaville South Africa North Africa

  10. PERSPECTIVES • NATIONAL PROGRAM IN FIGHT AGAINST CANCER • Existing program • Countries without any program • Registries in Africa • Training in cancer registration (clerks, technicians, Doctors)

PERSPECTIVES • FUNDING • Advocacy campagne African political groups: African Union, African Governments etc…, Pharmaceutical industries, African very rich people, International groups in fight against cancer • Partnership are in preparation with big cancers Organisations Warms greetings: INCTR and NCI

CONCLUSION The Perspectives mentioned in this communication: - Regional representatives - Reports will be evaluated this week - Constitution will be adopted next year during the 5 th AORTIC Conference in Dakar (Senegal). This job is under the coordination of the Executive Board elected in GHANA during the 4th AORTIC Conference

  13. CONCLUSION Our HOPE when these perspectives show its success in Africa, it can be useful for other countries “because one never know where the cancer solution will come from”May AORTIC actions contribute to reduce the incidence of cancer in Africans by 2015 .
