COB Description MISSION STATEMENT The Kent State University College of Business Administration and Graduate School of Management faculty fulfill their charge from the University and State of Ohio by providing high-quality undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs by engaging in a combination of instructional, research and scholarship, and service activities. While selected graduate programs encompass national and international clienteles, our programs primarily serve the citizens of Northeastern Ohio. [approved by CAC 4/27/97; revised 2/11/98] *COB’s mission, vision, and strategic plan are currently under revision

COB Description (continued) • U.S. News and World Report Ranking: • For the third consecutive year, Kent State University’s College of Business Administration is listed among America’s 148 best (out of over 1,200) undergraduate business programs in the country and is the only public business school listed from northeast Ohio.

  9. COB Description (continued) • Our Faculty and Student Body: • The COB has 44 TT faculty members, 36 of whom have tenure. • Student enrollment for 2004: • 2,742 undergraduate students • 470 graduate students

Participation Students: Attraction • Undergraduate: Full participation in KSU initiatives; respond to external requests • Masters: new association with the NBMBAA National Black MBA Association (new students and mentors) • PhD: COB member of Ph.D. Project; routinely recruits Ph.D. students at this conference

Participation: Faculty/Staff • COB Deans are strong verbal proponents of diversity in recruiting and hiring; attempt to acquire needed funds • HBCUs: Dean Stevens assists Historically Black Colleges and Universities in their accreditation efforts. KSU COB gets increased visibility with newly minted minority Ph.D.s and ABDs.

  23. DCL: AACSB Standards • “Education and management practice indicate that exposure to a variety of viewpoints produces higher quality results. Learning experiences should foster sensitivity and flexibility toward cultural differences….Every graduate should be prepared to pursue a business or management career in a global context. That is, students should be exposed to cultural practices different than their own. The school must document how it achieves diverse viewpoints among its participants and as a part of students’ learning experiences.”
