  1. It is imperative for one to understand the 4 C’s of diamond quality – whether one is a manufacturer, supplier, or buyer – only to ensure that you understand the diamonds you are manufacturing, selling, or buying. The basic knowledge about a diamond will let you know its quality, which can help you estimate its original value andprice. • Diamond Color – The colour of the diamond depicts its value. The lesser colour in the stone, the more valuable it is. You may not be able to make out much difference with the naked eye, but you must understand that the colour of the diamond directly impacts the overall quality and price of thestone. • Diamond Clarity – The clarity depicts the amount, size, and placement of internal inclusions and external blemishes in the diamond. It could be “flawless” with no imperfections, or “included” with a significant number ofimperfections. • Diamond Cut – The cut here refers to not the shape, but tothe proportion and • arrangement of the diamond’s facets and the quality of workmanship. The cut determines the amount of brilliance and sparkle of the diamond. Grades range from excellent topoor. • Diamond Carat – The carat is nothing but the diamond’s weight. The higher the weight, the more expensive the stone. However, two diamonds of equal weight can have very different qualities and prices when the other three C’s areconsidered. • For a buyer’s eyes, a diamond can always “look” beautiful. But, how beautiful it actuallyis, intermsofcharacteristics, canonlybedeterminedbyunderstandingthe
