Background of AMEICC AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC) was established in 1998 according to the endorsement of ASEAN-Japan Summit Meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in December 1997 The objectives are: Support for the ASEAN Economic Integration - Improvement of ASEAN competitiveness- Enhancement of industrial cooperation- Development cooperation assistance to new member countries The 8th Meeting of AMEICC was jointly held with 12th AEM-METI Consultation in Vientiane, Lao PDR on 29th September 2005.

[Regional network of ASEAN statistical system] ASEAN Industry and Commercial Statistics Information Bank (Storing all the necessary documentations and publications related to industrial and commercial statistics to facilitate networking and exchange of information ) Web-page was established to facilitate and support the information sharing among the member countries of WGS. [Development of industrial and commercial statistics with international comparability] International Comparative Analysis on ASEAN Industrial Statistics - Provisional version of comparative tables on manufacturing sector was constructed by each ASEAN countries 4-digit statistical data for the manufacturing sector (based on ISIC ver.3 Section D). Those included; Number of establishments, Number of employees; Compensation; Input cost; Value of gross output; Value added; Book value of fixed assets. - The tables will be examined the possibility of making international comparison among ASEAN and to more closely analyze each county’s industrial classifications and definitions. Composition The AHSOM, which is in the form of an ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), shall be composed of the heads of the national statistical organizations / agencies / offices of the ASEAN Member Countries. Since 1995 ( by Bangkok Summit Declaration) AHSOM: ASEAN HEAD OF STATISTICS OFFICE MEETING What is AHSOM ?

Initiate, coordinate and monitor cooperation in the area of statistics in ASEAN; Develop and implement regional cooperative programmes and activities to, among others, enhance harmonized statistical collection, reporting, dissemination and exchange in ASEAN and between and among ASEAN Member Countries; Discuss and exchange views on statistics issues raised in other regional and international for a which could have implications an ASEAN, and where possible, coordinate ASEAN common stand/position; Cooperate in human resources development activities by sharing resources, skills and training facilities, e.g., networking of training institutes/centres, provision of technical assistance and experts, for ASEAN statistical officers/statisticians; Disseminate, as appropriate, results and recommendations of statistical researchs/analyses on ASEAN regional development trends, prospects and issues to appropriate ASEAN bodies; Provide statistical policy support, upon request, to other ASEAN bodies and the ASEAN Secretariat, in their policy review, planning and research activities; and Establish technical working group(s), with defined terms of reference and duration, as and when the need arises. TFSC was established in 2003 The fifth Meeting: 23-25 August 2006 Bali TFSC basically aims at: Development of a common structure of ASEAN industrial classifications,  ACIC ( ASEAN Common Industrial Classification) at 3 digits level, which is aligned to the ISIC Rev.4 Development of Guidelines for Revision and treatment of boundary and vertically integrated activities, Conduct of national studies to provide inputs and test to the Draft common structure, description and guidelines for revision. Overall activities for the Task Force on Harmonization of Statistical Classifications
