  2. Thesis Statement: • John Locke influenced the many thinkers of The Age of Enlightenment and his efforts helped shape our world today by his contributions to the political government.

Locke’s association with Cooper is what helped him with his influence in political government. Locke’s political works was seen greatly in The Second Treatise of Government. • Evaluation: This source had an abundance of information about John Locke. It focuses on his association with Anthony Ashley Cooper and this is what gives us insight as to how John Locke shaped our political government.

It also talks about Locke’s association with Newton and how their works led to some important reforms in law and government. • Evaluation: Not only is this source giving us information on Locke and his works, but it is letting us in on how his association with Newton helped influence the both of them during the time of The Enlightenment.

It talks about his philosophy and how this connects to our own thoughts and ideas. • Evaluation: The information that is presented throughout this source is continuously connecting Locke’s works to the ways that he influenced not only thinkers, but the way that people saw and formed ideas about the political government.

This is important because this is what starts to really influence Locke and the thinkers that looked up to him. It gives us insight to what Locke thinks about political freedom to an extent. • Evaluation: The ideas presented to us here are all important to the question of how Locke’s efforts shaped our world today. By knowing that Locke had thoughts and ideas about Natural Law, this gave others the freedom to start forming their own opinions that went along with Locke’s philosophy.

This gives us direct knowledge of what Locke thought about man and the government. • Evaluation: This source is important to know what Locke thought of how men should think and react to their government. It also connects government and religion to show that as you serve your God, you should serve your government.

It talks about how he advocated for teachers and students to have a close relationship so that they were able to share ideas and learn more comfortably. • Evaluation: The blog source gives us good points as to how Locke is positively influencing education which is necessary to us in todays world for a stronger educational connection around the world.

It also gives us a snip of a letter Locke wrote to James Blair who was the founder and president of the College. • Evaluation: With knowledge of Locke’s influence on education, this information is important in making a conclusion that Locke was such an important part in college education and that is why it kept flourishing after his death.

  10. Conclusion • In conclusion, John Locke influenced the thinkers of The Age of Enlightenment in more ways than one. He brought on the idea of “consciousness” and ones own thoughts. His connections of serving ones God and serving ones government has had a great impact on our political government. His efforts have shaped our world today by the ideas that he brought that are presented through the United States Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution. Without Locke, not only would our government be different, but the world as we know it wouldn’t be the same.
