  2. Yoga refers to a set of breathing exercises known as pranayama. Evidence suggests that pranayama practice has positive effects on strengthening the heart and lungs. Many results explored how a Bhastrika pranayama’s impact may help strengthen, cleanse, and invigorate the heart and lungs. The word Bhastrika is derived from Sanskrit. That means bellows, i.e. pranayama, in which, making a sound like a blacksmith’s bellows, swiftly takes the pure air into the lungs and throws out the impure air. Thus, doing the process of breathing quickly is called Bhastrika Pranayama Yoga.

  3. The Practise of Bhastrika Pranayama: known as Bellows Breath, describes the active filling and emptying of the lungs and abdomen. This practice also significantly Infuses the blood with oxygen, strengthens the heart and lungs, reduces anxiety and negative affect, and balances Kapha and Vata.

  4. Pranayama for Lungs: Practice Bhastrika Pranayama Yoga The Yoga Sutras organize a set of eight practices—yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. It is also called ashtanga yoga or yoga of eight limbs. The breath exercise in yoga is called pranayama, which is a Sanskrit word for prana and Ayam. It refers to a series of voluntary controlled breathing exercises that manipulate the respiratory frequency. Evidence suggests that the practice of pranayama affects many physiological variables. The practise of Bhastrika Pranayama with a low respiratory rate improves respiratory function, lungs, and heart balance.

  5. How to Practice Bhastrika Pranayama Yoga • First of all, by laying a yoga mat, sit in any comfortable pose such as Padmasana, Siddhasana or Sukhasana. • During this, the waist, neck, spine and head should be straight. • If you cannot sit in Padmasana, then sit in a comfortable position, but keep in mind that your body, neck and head are straight. • Both the hands will remain on the knees in the Gyan Mudra, and the eyes will remain closed. • Take a deep breath through the nostrils of both nostrils, but take care not to open the mouth at all while inhaling.

  6. The lungs should be fully expanded while inhaling. After this, now in one stroke, one has to release the filled breath from the nostrils of both nostrils. • The speed of exhalation should be faster than the lungs contract with a jerk. • This action should be inflated and deflated like a blacksmith’s bellows. • In the beginning, should do this practice slowly. • To become proficient in Bhastrika Pranayama, one should first practice very slowly, inhaling the abdomen with the breath without moving the rest of the body.

  7. Bhastrika Pranayama Benefits • Helps to strengthen the heart and lungs • Strengthens the nervous system • Increases lung capacity • Balances nervous and the motor system • Helps strengthen immunity • Rejuvenates the lungs • Drains phlegm from the lungs. • Balances excess Vata, pitta, and Kapha • Alleviates lungs diseases such as cough, respiratory issues, allergies, and asthma • Tones the muscles of the heart and abdomen • Improves blood circulation
