Well, to simplify the process of getting information about various skin conditions, the tech giant Google is now gearing up to launch an advanced app that utilizes advanced and latest image recognition algorithm to offer personalized and expert assistance to the users. However, Google’s AI capability and recent developments in the field of health care can make the new app effective and efficient. Karen DeSalvo, chief health officer at Google, during a developer conference, informed that Google is planning to launch the “Dermatology assist tool” very soon in the European Union by the end of 2021. Google informed that the app has CE marked, which is a Class I devise in the European Union. That means the app can be sold in the areas and other countries following the same standard. Getting necessary clearance from the authorities is not a simple task. The conference by Google took place just a week after when the EU ruled out stricter rules that all the health apps need to follow to prove their efficacy. The design displayed in the demo video requires the users to snap at least three photos of the blemish from various distances and angles. Also, the users can add other information. Google informed that the app had been programmed using thousands of skin photos. Besides, it can easily detect more than 280 different skin conditions, covering skin cancers. DeSalvo said that the company developed this dermatology app as there is a lack of skin specialists or dermatologists to assist all the people with various skin conditions.
