  2. Does the essay have a title? Does it say something about the fav. place rather than say “My Favorite Place”? Title?

  4. Does the intro provide the dominant impression, and does the thesis state three sub-divisions of it? Thesis

  5. Did the writer use TO BE in the thesis. (or anywhere else in the essay?) • Squiggly underline any forms you see. To Be in thesis?

  6. Did the writer use three discrete descriptors to elaborate the dominant impression? Three points in thesis?

  7. Look at the three topic sentences. Are they directly related to the three descriptors named in the thesis? Three Topic Sents.

  8. Does it only include details that relate to what was advertised in the topic sentence? Read BP # 1

  11. Does the writer have a concluding sentence at the end of each body paragraph? Concluding Sents.

  17. Does the writer use first and third person appropriately. It’s okay to have first person (my favorite place, etc.), but your essay should not shift back and forth Person Shifting
