Composting Project • Project Goals: • Determine which organic waste components found in Bluefields make a good recipe for Compost • Work with Scouts to develop a teaching campaign about composting at the household level • a) Go house to house in a pre-determined area to raise awareness of composting

Possible Project Timeline • Robin and Emma Meet with Bluefields Scout Council – July 22 • Students from the University of Virginia (UVa) arrive – July 25 • Students meet Scouts – July 26 • How often do Scouts meet? When? Where? • Students meet with Scouts in the afternoon each day of that week of July 26 to July 30, to plan education campaign, target area, and recipe for compost • Start compost test-site in specified location (BICU?) • Students and Scouts visit the rehabilitation farm currently producing compost • Composting partners spend the week of August 2 to 6 doing the household campaign • Composting partners spend week of August 9 to 12 continuing campaign and checking on composting recipe • Composting partners present findings to Scout Council, Environmental office, BICU professors, and other stakeholders on Thursday August 12 • Goodbye party at Tia Irene on Saturday August 14
