Research Professional is a database of funding • Free subscription for all students and staff through the University of Glasgow. • National, EU and International funding • All funding streams from research grants to studentships, from travel grants to early career fellowships • Announced and forecast funding opportunities based on previous years trends • Multiple search criteria to tailor results to individual needs • Institutional zone with repopulated searches for your convenience • Possibility to set up personalised alerts • Possibility to opt-in and out of funding magazines generated by the college

  3. Logging in http://www.researchprofessional.com/ • How to log in.avi • To login to Research professional you DO NOT need a username and a password. As long as you are on campus you can use “campus access”. You can run basic searchers but you cannot save or shortcut to institutional resources. • To take full advantage of the software you need a username and password. If you are unsure use the “forgot password” link • If you never registered, just use the simple self-registration link

Using University searches • A number of pre-populated institutional searches are provided for your convenience. • You can run this searches at any time to look for funding but to create an alert you will have to either save a copy of the search into your personal searches folder or create a shortcut that will be visible into your institutional researches. • saving a university search in personal folders.avi • saving and shortcutting.avi

College of Science and Engineering School of Physics and Astronomy searches You must shortcut or save to be able to alert Save Shortcut Alert Alert INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCES SAVED SEARCHES • You can modify and change saved searches • If an institutional resource is modified your search is NOT updated • If you press delete it is permanent • You cannot modify • If an institutional resource is modified your shortcut is updated • If you press delete you only delete the link not the search

Magazines • The College issues a fortnightly magazine of research and funding news. • You can choose to subscribe to the magazine and you will receive it by email every time a new issue is generated. • If you already receive email alerts of the funding searches that are tailored to your research interests the College magazine will add more breadth to your awareness of possible funding streams. • Very rarely opportunities for young researchers are advertised in the college magazine that tends to focus on larger funding opportunity and interdisciplinary research. • subscribing to magazine.avi • example college magazine.avi

I would be very happy to receive comments to improve any of the existing (or create new) institutional resources in the School of Physics and Astronomy directory. • If you are encountering any difficulties using the system, please do not hesitate to contact me. • The college magazine is not working at the moment. Due to a system upgrade an error is currently occurring every time the magazine is emailed out. I will let you know as soon as this is fixed.
