What is chunking? • procedure of breaking up reading material into manageablesections • the harder the text, the smaller the chunks
How? (hop pg. 26) • Read a small section, then to check your comprehension:
How… ? • If they can do at least one - continue reading next chunk • If they can’t do any - reread • with a purpose in mind • doing the same as before won’t work • Great for study groups • Each person is responsible for reading one chunk and summarizing it for the rest of the group • Everyone learns the main points from every chunk, but only reads and summarizes one part.
