  2. What did the children say?... (what would you say to the new children?) We learn to read We need to concentrate: you listen carefully and it helps you when you are doing different things We share things, and shouldn’t quarrel if we want the same toy Try and join in and don’t feel shy Be kind to everyone Keep your toys in your drawer We need to show them where everything is kept, and share them with other people, and to put stuff away… You can use the Book Corner for quiet reading Come and find an older child if you want to play

  17. The Learning Journey Tracks your child’s progress from Nursery to the end of Reception Year. Provides important home/school links where information is shared about your child’s interests at home and at school. The Learning Journey will be shared during Parent Consultation evenings.

  18. ‘Odds and Ends’ to remember… • We have water available all the time in Class, and each child has their own named cup, but you may bring a bottle of still water to drink during the day • PE kit should be in School everyday: sometimes we need it for spontaneous games or activities • Please name all clothing: it really doesn’t get lost then! • Try and read with your child every day, and fill in the Reading Record book (date, page number and initials) • It is very helpful always to keep a pair of ‘wellies’ at school for wet or muddy play • Celebrate all that your child is, can do, and has learned: these short years are precious!
