The main roles of thesaurus in the office • assisting in the search for information in metadata repositories • providing definitions for terms found in the various metadata repositories • preservation of bilingual (Slovene – English) professional terminology development • standardisation of bilingual terminology • bilingual (Slovene - English) dictionary - (part of the bookshelf with electronic dictionaries) • difficult management and maintenance without software support (developed step by step during last years; in the year 2004 - 11.800 EUR, 2005 - 9.710 EUR) • From March 2006 it is available for the internet users from SORS web site.

Plans and future development • Indexing PC-AXIS files • PC AXIS reference group:proposal for giving priority to develop a new keyword, namely a “search keyword” to the structure of PC files • best practice in representing a subject will be applied, f.i. http://dublincore.org/documents/usageguide/elements.shtml • new functionality will therefore be added while building a well-interconnected data services over the Internet; overall strategy explained in Jug 2004
