Europe • You have the freedom to live and work in the countries of the EEA European Economic Area (EEA) if you are an EEA national* • The EEA is made of the 25 countries that from the EU (European Union) - plus Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein *Some restrictions apply for citizens of the new Member States that joined the EU on 1 May 2004

  8. What is EURES? • A network linking public employment services across Europe to provide an international jobcentre service • Jobcentre Plus as the British public employment service is part of the EURES network • Funded by the European Commission • Launched in November 1994

  9. EURES offers • An easy way to find information on jobs and learning opportunities throughout the EEA • Advice about living and working in EEA countries • A human network of more than 700 EURES advisers across Europe • The EURES job mobility portal

Search for a job • Search through the European vacancy database of over 900,000 vacancies • Search by country/region, occupation and keywords • The vacancies cover a wide range of occupations and include permanent and seasonal job opportunities. Each vacancy has information on how to apply and whom to contact. www.eures-jobs.com

Living and Working • The database contains contains information on a number of important issues such as finding accommodation, finding a school, taxes, the cost of living, health, social legislation, and comparability of qualifications. • You can also view Labour Market Information. This provides details on current trends on the European labour market by country, region and sector of activity. www.eures-jobs.com

EURES CV search • An internet-based meeting place for employers and jobseekers • Gives you the opportunity to post your CV and make it visible to EURES advisers and registered employers • Takes about 30 minutes to register your CV details • Currently has 309,488 CVs on line, and 16,575 employers www.eures-jobs.com

Learning • This information comes from PLOTEUS, the Portal on Learning Opportunities Throughout Europe • In addition to the Learning Opportunities that are available here in EURES, the PLOTEUS website http://europa.eu.int/ploteus/portal/home.jsp contains information on national education and training systems, European exchange programmes and relevant contacts for further information. www.eures-jobs.com

My EURES • My EURES provides a number of ways to personalise the services of the EURES Job Mobility Portal according to your personal needs • You can create and store search profiles and receive e-mail alerts when jobs matching the profile become available. • Provides access to EURES CV On Line, www.eures-jobs.com

Comparability of qualifications • NARIC (National Recognition Information Centre) can provide comparability details for qualifications • You should contact the NARIC in your destination country • List of NARICs can be obtained from: http://ec.europa.eu/education/programmes/socrates/adnaric_en.html
