  6. BAT11B Network • Media access protocol: • CSMA/CA with ACK • RF protocol: • IEEE 802.11b @ 11 Mbit/s and 5.5 Mbit/s, • IEEE 802.11 @ 2 Mbit/s and 1 Mbit/s • Topology: • Access point (infrastructure) • Access client (ad-hoc)

  7. BAT11B Environmental • EMC interference immunity • EN 61000-4-2 Electrostatic discharge immunity test. • EN 61000-4-3 Radiated, radio-frequency, electromagnetic field immunity test • EN 61000-4-4 Electrical fast transient/burst • EN 61000-4-5 Surge immunity test • EN 61000-4-6 Immunity to conducted disturbances, induced by radio-frequency fields • EMC radiated and conducted interference • EN 55022 class A • Approvals • As per R&TTE directive 1999/5/EC • Operating Temperature • -20 to +70 C • Humidity • 0-95% non-condensing

  8. BAT11B Display & Operation 1 • LS1=Ethernet port 1 & • LS2=Ethernet port 2 • Connected to LAN -> green • DA1=Data Transmission & • DA2=Data Transmission • Minor data received -> intermittent orange • Major data received -> constant orange

  9. BAT11B Display & Operation 2 • LS WAN • No AP/AC connection -> Intermittent Green • Valid AP/AC operation -> green • AP operation -> green • DA WAN • Minor data received -> blinks orange • Major data received -> solid orange

  10. BAT11B Configuration • Management • BAT Discovery • Web Interface • SNMP-??? • Diagnostics • LED’s • Signal Contact/Fault Relays • Configuration • BAT Discovery • Web Interface • DHCP

  11. BAT11B Access Point Operation • Example 1 - the BAT in LAN 1 acts as an Access Point and the BAT in LAN 2 works as an Access Client. All clients in LAN 2 are connected to the AP in LAN 1.

  12. BAT11B Infrastructure Operation • Example 2 – All clients communicate via the access point. However, all AC's have to be located within the range of the access point.

  13. BAT11B Ad-Hoc Operation • Example 2 – All clients communicate directly with each other. However, this method is not optimal as interference can occur with more regularity.

  14. BAT11B – BAT Discovery Protocol
