  3. Some facts and figures (there are very many more, easily found) Global suicides equate to more than five Jumbo Jets crashing and killing all 500 passengers every day. This is c.1million suicides every year. Suicide kills more than wars, murders, war, terrorism and other acts of violence, combined. For every suicide there are about 20 attempts. For every attempt, 10 / 20 / 50(?) contemplate suicide ~ nobody knows, because we don't attempt to measure it. Self-harm and prior attempts are major predictors of suicide risk. There are several more 'obvious' suicide risk clues that are easy for us to miss, because the possibility of suicide is typically unimaginable. Suicides are significantly under-reported ~ taboo, shame, sensitivity, etc. Every adult suicide costs >£1.8m/$2m (yes children kill themselves too). The shockwaves of suicides are indescribable and immeasurable. We all pay for suicides, attempts, ideations, one way or another. UK 6,000/yr. India 100,000/yr ~ all nations are blighted ~ oddly suicide unites the world ~ wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate Suicides are preventable ~ far more easily than believed ~ and the earlier the easier. Mentioning suicide doesn't cause suicide. Not mentioning suicide does. Every suicide is different. Suicide is rarely is due to a single factor.

  4. Festival of Life and Death What and how? • Suicide awareness/prevention/education ~ emergent, organic, free. • Breaking suicide taboos and stigmas, especially death and suicide. • Helping people bereaved/affected by suicide and other grief/trauma. • Promoting/enabling human wellness via free self-organised community ‘festival’ events, and similar group activities, for any situation. • People performing/participating in wellness experiences, especially arts/music/dance, nature/animals, crafts/making, yoga/mindfulness, good food and drink, and simply talking and listening, involving ‘lived experience’ guides/teachers/role-models/etc. • Multi-sensory ~ reaching, conveying, connecting in natural ways ~ because normal 'language' is inadequate, confusing, and mostly unnecessary.

  5. Festival of Life and Death What, for whom and why? • Free, very adaptable, ‘open source’, emergent, for anyone to use and/or to align/associate with. • For groups, communities, schools/FE, corporate/workplace, healthcare, leisure. Anywhere. • The concept design includes ‘Nudge Theory’ and ‘Trojan Horse’ ideas. • FoLaD is very ‘lean’ (simple, low cost, easy), autonomous/de-centralised. • Transformational - it's about authenticity, love and peace, and what it is to be human. • FoLaD also supports and gives solutions for existential threats to life on earth, notably climate change/pollution, economics/politics, technology/lifestyle. Where we fix suicide, we fix everything.
