El 3 de marzo de 1980 en el hospital central de Alajuela nace Gabriela Gerarda Traña Trigueros una de las más destacadas deportistas costarricenses en lo que respecta al Atletismo Nacional, hija del matrimonio entre Valentín Albino Traña Castillo y Luisa Margarita Trigueros Oconitrillo, es la segunda de 6 hermanos tal como lo presenta la siguiente lámina:

Gabriela tiene un peso de 52.5 kg una altura de 164.5cm y pocos saben que además de Atletismo y la maratón tiene afinidad por la natación. • En 1993 cuando  ingreso a sétimo año en el Colegio Gregorio José, en Montecillos de Alajuela, fue descubierta por el profesor Juan Carlos Vega González (hoy su actual entrenador), quien la inicio en el atletismo.
