Saunders: Philadelphia Please do not limit your studies to this single text, there are a number of excellent texts books.

    4. Lectures are not compulsory, but recommended. Assessment Assignment Exams Mid session End of session In class tests

    5. Studying this Subject PowerPoint presentations will NOT replace the taking of notes during class and the reading of the texts. Only major points will be made and put on this presentation, details will be expanded in discussion and on the OHP or white-board. There will not be a full power point presentation uploaded online.

    6. Topic Areas patient preparation/care patient positioning, including common alternative techniques. immobilisation/positioning aids technical parameters. critical assessment of anatomical alignment - patient and image appearances. common supplementary/specialised projections/techniques, as applicable. e.g.: abnormality specific protocols principles of CT CT instrumentation QA/QC in CT gross anatomy - revise/consolidate. imaging anatomy - normal and common abnormal. overview of major (common) indications for the examinations, including affect on patient mobility. affect on imaging parameters/protocols, as applicable. basic projections/image series/techniques/protocols.

Assessment Major assignment Total 20% of total grade Mid session Exam Total 40% of total grade Final exam end of session (Exam week) Total 40% of total grade Use of correct terminology in Medical Imaging is very important, along with its correct spelling, penalties will be incurred for incorrect spelling of technical jargon Abbreviations without explanations will also be penalised

    8. Assignment groups Assignments are to be completed in groups of no more than four students The assignment is to accompanied by ten questions (assessable) and answers. This assignment is a group research assessment task, equal grades will be given to each group member. Your group of four will remain the same for the duration of the assignment

    9. Assignment topics A list of topics will be put up outside my office, it will be a first in first serve policy. Please choose your area to research carefully, and ensure you will have semester long contact with your group members
