WHAT IS VOLUNTEERING • IT IS AN ACTION OF GIVING SERVICE FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS • SERVICE GIVEN IS NOT COMPULSORILY ENFORCED • REWARD IS NOT A MOTIVE FOR THE ACTION UNDERTAKEN • DURATION OF ACTIONS COULD BE SHORT, MEDIUM OR LONG • ACTION COULD BE UNDERTAKEN ONCE, ON TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT BASIS • ACTION COULD BE TAKEN ON PERSONAL OR GROUP BASIS • ACTORS COULD BE FROM FORMAL OF INFORMAL ORGANISATION BOTH NEAR AND FAR

WHAT IS VOLUNTEERISM • IT IS A STATE OF THE MIND • IT IS AN ATTIDUDE OF ALTRUISM • IT IS A REPEATED BEHAVIOUR OF UNSELFISHNESS • ITS SPIRIT COULD BE INNATE IN AN INDIVIDUAL OR ACQUIRED THROUGH LEARNING • IT REQUIRES INITIATIVE OR STIMULATION FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO ACT • SERVICE COULD BE PROVIDED ON INDIVIDUAL BASIS OR IN A GROUP • IT IS A TENDENCY TO AND ACTION OF STIMULATING OTHERS TO JOIN IN VOLUNTARY ACTIIVITIES WHENEVER IT IS NECESSARY TO DO SO

  4. STATE OF MIND • VOLUNTEERISM COMES FROM THE MIND OF AN INDIVIDUAL TOPUT HER/HIS SERVICES TO THE USE AND BENEFIT OF OTHERS

  5. AN ATTITUDE OF ALTRUISM • IT IS TENDENCY TO CONSIDER THE WELFARE AND HAPPINESS OF OTHERS BEFORE CONSIDERING ONES OWN (SELFLESS SERVICE FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHER)

  6. REAPEATED BEHAIVIOUR • IT INVOLVES WILLINGNESS TO REPEAT THE ACTIONS OF PROVIDING SELFLESS SERVICES FOR THE BENEFIT OF OTHERS

ITS SPIRIT COULD BE INNATE IN AN INDIVIDUAL OR ACQUIRED THROUGH LEARNING • SOME PEOPLE HAVE NATURAL TENDENCY TO PROVIDE SELFLESS SERVICE, BUT OTHERS MAY HAVE TO BE TRAINED TO APPRECIATE AND GIVE SELFLESS SERVICE. • NONETHELESS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE SHARING ARE NECESSARY TO SHARPEN THE CAPABILITY OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO GIVE AN EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT SELFLESS SERVICE

IT REQUIRES INITIATIVE OR STIMULATION FOR AN INDIVIDUAL TO ACT • IT DEMANDS A PERSON OR A GROUP TO IDENTIFY AND TO DELIVER A SELFLESS SERVICE WHENEVER IT IS NECESSARY TO DO SO. • HOWEVER, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO CALL UPON A PERSON OR GROUP TO ACT • ANYWAY, PERSONS OR GROUPS WITH SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM WOULD ALWAYS BE WILLING TO ACT WHENEVER A CALL IS MADE TO DO SO.

ACTIONS COULD BE UNDERTAKEN INDIVIDUAL BASIS OR IN A GROUP • ACTIONS OF VOLUNTEERING COULD BE UNDERTAKEN ON INDIVIDUAL OR ON GROUP BASIS. • HOWEVER, THE FLAME OF VOLUNTEERISM FLARES WIDER AND LONGER IN GROUP ACTIONS THROUGH EXPERIENCE SHARING AND INTER-PERSONAL STIMULATION TO CONTINUE ACTION AMONG GROUP MEMBERS

TENDENCEY TO AND ACTION OF STIMULATING OTHERS TO JOIN IN VOLUNTARY ACTIVITIES WHENEVER IT IS NECESSARY TO DO SO • IT DEMANDS THAT AN INDIVIDAUL OR A GROUP MAKES CALL TO OTHERS AND ASSIST THEM IN PROVIDING VOLUNTARY SERVICES WHENEVER SUCH NEEDS ARISE OR IN PREPAREDNESS FOR A NEED FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICES (STIMULATING OTHER INTO VOLUNTARY SERVICE)
