  1. HS Announcements: Monday, Feb. 25th High School FFA Staff Breakfast will be this Wednesday. Attention Musical set and light crew: The crew that was originally meeting for the musical tonight will begin on Thursday instead. Attention NHS Students: There is a sign up sheet outside of the physics room for volunteers to work the Science Olympic tournament on March 2nd. They need NHS worker for concessions. Spanish club will be doing a cooking activity on Tuesday, February 26 from 3-5 pm. Sign up in Miss Lenk's room if you want to participate. If you are on the free or reduced lunch program, you can also get a free or reduced breakfast in the mornings. Cost for reduced breakfast is just 30 cents. Breakfast is served every school day, but not on delay days. A regular price breakfast is $1.10. Attention high school track and field athletes! Official outdoor conditioning begins today and will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 p.m. We will meet outside the cafetorium. There is a HS Boys outdoor track sign-up sheet in the office. High School softball practice starts today at 5:00 in the gym. If you plan to play, you MUST have a physical turned into coach or Jake before you can practice. See Jake with any questions. High School baseball practice begins today after school. Practice will be from 3-5. Bring a hat, glove wear t-shirt and shorts. If you have a bat you can bring it. If you have any questions see coach Smith. Again, you must have a current physical on file to practice. The high school girls basketball end of season awards banquet will be Wednesday at 5:30. Pizza, drinks, and table service will be provided, athletes are asked to bring a dessert to share. Congratulations to our HS Science Olympiad Team in bringing home the gold. Our team got 1st place out of 19 teams at the New Albany Invitational on Saturday. All 10 members received an award and our Robot Arm team members, Matt Kauffman and Steven Bailey, not only won first in their event but also received special recognition from the US Air Force which included a $500 prize. Mock Trial regional competition that was scheduled for last Friday will take place this Wednesday. Athletics The Varsity Boys Basketball Team defeated Brookville in tournament action on Saturday by a score of 55-37. Leading scorers for WLS were Grant Burden-16, Travis Mayse-14, and Landon Hormann-13. The team will play Waynesville Tuesday night at 8:00 at Tecumseh High School. Presale tickets are on sale in the high school office or at McCulla Sew & Vac. Purchasing presale is encouraged as the school gets back a percentage of ticket sales for presale only. Good luck to Cody McNutt as she competes at the District Bowling Match today. Congratulations to Trevor Anderson. Trevor competed at the District Wrestling meet this Saturday and Sunday at Kettering Fairmont and finished as runner-up in his weight class. Trevor lost a close 9-5 match in the championship. His runner-up finish qualifies him to compete at the state tournament later this week at OSU. It starts Thursday at 3:00. From Guidance Attention Juniors and Seniors- There will be a College Fair with over 60 colleges and universities on March 18, between the hours of 6:00 and 7:30 pm on the campus of Rhodes State College and the Ohio State University at Lima. The event will be held in the Cook Hall Gymnasium. There will be an Admissions and Financial Aid session held at 5:30 p.m. in Reed Hall Cafeteria. Attention juniors: Are you planning to go to a 2-yr or 4-yr college after graduation? Do you know the average tuition amount for a 4-yr public or state institution? Do you know the admission requirements for selective colleges like OSU? Answers to these questions and many others will be given to both juniors and their parents/guardians during our annual Junior College Planning Night on Thursday, March 7. The event starts at 5:30 in the media center. Reps from BGSU, Otterbein, OSU (Lima Campus and Main Campus), Urbana University and Clark State will be here to discus their universities and the types of colleges they represent. Please plan to attend. For Seniors Attention seniors: The WL-S PTO Scholarship is now available in the Guidance Office. Please stop in for more details. Attention seniors!!!! The Logan County Education Foundation Scholarships are now available on their website. The student must live in Logan County to apply for the available scholarships. Please stop by the Guidance office for details. The Christy Knotts/Ranae Donohoe Scholarship is available in the Guidance office. The deadline to return the application to the Guidance office will be March 8th. The Buick Achievers Scholarship is open to any student attending a 4-year college and focusing on Engineering/Technology or Design and Business related programs of study. The application must be filled out online and the deadline is February 28, 2013.
