Allegory inTheLorax • Allegory – an allegory is another name for an extended metaphor, usually in prose and not poetry • A piece of fiction that can be read on two levels: the literal and the metaphorical • Describe in a well-developed paragraph of at least half a page both the literal story of The Lorax as well as the allegory (the metaphorical meaning of the story) • Hint: The allegory will be either contemporary or historical • BONUS: Come up with an believable explanation as to why Dr. Seuss chose NOT to show the face of the Once-ler.
