This lesson focuses on two significant ways poor housing can lead to health problems. We will examine historical approaches to treating illness, highlighting the lack of access to medical professionals before 1948, where many diseases were managed through isolation rather than effective treatment. Additionally, we will explore traditional home remedies utilized by people, such as bathing sore eyes in tea and using alcohol for toothaches. Lastly, we will discuss public health improvements introduced in the 20th century, including free school meals and the establishment of the NHS.
