  6. How will the blood be used? It may go to help… A mother that needs a C-section A soccer player that needs a Knee-Replacement A grandfather that has an Aneurysm A teacher that needs Heart Surgery A college student that is in a Car Accident A fire fighter that is Burned

  7. Blood is available for those in need due to the outstanding contributions of phlebotomists, apheresis operators, recruiters, technicians, drivers and all the others involved in supporting the nation’s blood supply. We would like to say, Thank you!

  8. What is blood collector’s week? • Blood Collector’s Week is an annual recognition week designed to celebrate the blood collection community and recognize your vital profession!

  9. When did blood collector's week start? AABB and Fenwal, A Fresenius Kabi Company collaborated to launch the first annual Blood Collectors Week in September of 2005.

  10. Who celebrates the week? Over 390blood collection centers across the country celebrate the inaugural Blood Collectors Week

  11. Program Goals • The primary goal for this recognition event is to celebrate this profession as being vital to the blood banking community, and linking how blood collection professionals secure a safe and adequate blood supply by creating a positive experience for the donor. • Your influence on the donation experience and the processing of blood is the key to keeping blood available for those that need it.

  12. Implementation and Promotion • Implementation and promotion of this national program will take place at the local level. • Marketing, recognition and public relations materials are available to all participating blood centers to help drive momentum and promotion with collections staff, donors, the media and others.

  13. Marketing Materials Among the Marketing Materials available are: • Recognition Materials for staff members • Marketing Materials such as flyers and banners • PR Materials such as a template press release

  14. Promotional Materials • When your blood center registers for Blood Collector’s Week Fenwal provides staff members with a commemorative lapel pin.

  15. Promotional Materials • There is also a catalog of promotional materials available to order.

  16. Success Stories • In addition to the actual week itself, keep the celebration going year-round by submitting a blood collector success story. • If you know someone who has gone above and beyond in supporting the nation’s blood supply, and/or creating a positive donor experience please submit a success story via the Blood Collector’s Week website.
