  1. Civil Engineering works for Linear Colliders* :-Brief introduction on the overall machine layout (just for CLIC at this stage)-Experimental Area Layout for CLIC-Experimental Area Layout for ILC -CMS concept-What next ?*CLIC=Compact Linear Collider, ILC =International Linear Collider J.Osborne & M.Gastal (CERN) for CLIC & V.Kuchler (Fermilab) for ILC

  2. 70cm

  3. CLIC Detector hall layout developed by : A.Gaddi H.Gerwig A.Herve CES will now use this as starting point for CE & services design, including cost estimates

  4. martin.gastal@cern.ch 2 Detector Caverns (60×28×28m) linked together by a transfer Tunnel * Driven by Push-Pull concept * Offers stability at the interface between the tunnel and the detector

  5. martin.gastal@cern.ch The detector would be moved into beam position on a moving platform The concept could be similar to the PX56 plug (2200 tons) N Siegrist – PH-CMX

  6. Global Design Effort ILC IR Layout (CERN)

  7. RDR Baseline Layouts for Interaction Region

  8. ILC 3d models developed at CERN using CATIA : CLIC models to follow once draughtsman is identified

  9. CMS Concrete platform just before concreting Sliding Cover over the CMS experimental shaft 2004

  10. Sliding Cover complete prior to completion of Phase 2 of experimental building 2004

  11. martin.gastal@cern.ch

  12. Main Goals of this workshop The goals are the mini-workshop are to see how we proceed with a design study for : • 1.      The underground concrete platforms envisaged to move the detectors on/off the beamline • 2.      Ground movement / vibration studies i.e. potential movements induced from caverns excavation and detector movement
