  3. What are Count Nouns? • Nouns expressed in plural form, usually with an “s” • Refer to things that exist as individual units: concrete & specific • Examples: princess, castle, dragon

  4. What are Noncount Nouns? • Nouns that usually cannot be expressed in plural form • Refer to things that cannot be counted: abstract or general meaning • Examples: magic, love, snow

  5. Adjectives with Nouns • Some/any: can express both count and noncount nouns • Much: noncount • Many: count • Little: noncount • Few: count

  6. Adjectives with Nouns (cont’d) • A lot of/Lots of: substitute “many” & “much” • A little bit of: informal & precedes noncount noun • Enough, plenty of, & no: modify count & noncount

  7. Exceptions to the Rules • Some nouns can be both count & noncount, depending on how they are classified • Count: Mom came back from the market with two fishes for dinner. • Noncount: We visited the hatchery to see different types of fish.
