Here's what Jeff thinks the tech sector will bring us in 2021 Each year, I like to take a look at the big photo and predict what's simply around the corner. Long time readers of my work understand that I follow the most interesting tech patterns on the verge of mass adoption. These trends are experiencing exponential growth and developing amazing opportunities for investors. 5G Devices Our new 5G (fifth-generation) cordless networks are a topic I have actually been covering for years now. Even though the COVID-19 pandemic interfered with supply chains last year, an outstanding 250 million 5G- enabled devices were still offered. Particularly in the 2nd quarter, there were supply chain interruptions, manufacturing delays, and work blockages. And all of this eventually caused Apple delaying the release of the 5G- enabled i, Phone 12 by 2 months. When you consider all of that, offering 250 million systems is exceptional. More notably, the delays brought on by the pandemic produced a lot of suppressed need. Which need is now going to be pushed into 2021. In truth, I predict that more than 500 million 5G devices will be shipped in 2021. Stage Three of 5G When I have actually talked about 5G in the past, I have actually described its 3 different stages. In Phase One, the infrastructure of these new networks is built out, consisting of all the new towers and fiber-optic electrical wiring that 5G will require. In Stage Two, 5G devices go on sale. And in Phase Three, 5G services begin to be provided. That's when we start to see applications running on 5G networks. And my 2nd 5G prediction for 2021 is that we will begin Phase Three by this summertime. More and more customers will go out to buy a 5G phone to gain access to these applications. 5G is going to open up a suite of extraordinary applications: self-driving cars, the Internet of Things, robotic surgery, and more. The investment opportunities going forward will be enormous. CRISPR Genetic Modifying Stepping away from 5G, the next crucial technology I visualize in 2021 is CRISPR hereditary editing. It's one of the most exciting developments in biotechnology.
