Regular Diary readers know that tech isn't our typical beat. And when it pertains to tech investing, we leave it to the professionals. Thankfully, we have numerous such professionals in our Rolodex. Our associate Jeff Brown will be familiar to our longtime readers. In fact, he had numerous triple-digit returns in his Brownstone Research portfolios last year. Here's what Jeff thinks the tech sector will bring us in 2021 Each year, I like to take an appearance at the huge picture and predict what's just around the corner. Longtime readers of my work understand that I follow the most amazing tech trends on the brink of mass adoption. These patterns are experiencing exponential development and creating amazing chances for financiers. 5G Gadgets Our brand-new 5G (fifth-generation) cordless networks are a topic I've been covering for years now. Although the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains last year, an impressive 250 million 5G-enabled gadgets were still sold. Particularly in the second quarter, there were supply chain interruptions, making hold-ups, and work blockages. And all of this ultimately caused Apple postponing the release of the 5G-enabled i, Phone 12 by two months. When you think about all of that, selling 250 million units is remarkable. More importantly, the hold-ups triggered by the pandemic produced a heap of bottled-up need. Which demand is now going to be pressed into 2021. In fact, I forecast that more than 500 million 5G devices will be shipped in 2021. Phase Three of 5G When I've discussed 5G in the past, I've explained its 3 different phases. In Phase One, the infrastructure of these new networks is built out, consisting of all the brand-new towers and fiber-optic circuitry that 5G will require. In Stage Two, 5G gadgets go on sale. And in Stage 3, 5G services start to be offered. That's when we begin to see applications operating on 5G networks. Think about things like enormous multiplayer games over a cellphone. That's not possible with 4G. It will be with 5G. And my second 5G prediction for 2021 is that we will start Stage Three by this summer. But they will care if there are amazing applications that can just be accessed with a 5G phone. So a growing

2. number of consumers will head out to buy a 5G phone to access these applications. That leads to more 5G apps being established. In reality, 5G is going to open up a suite of incredible applications: self-driving automobiles, the Web of Things, robotic surgery, and more. The investment chances going forward will be enormous. 3. CRISPR Genetic Modifying Stepping far from 5G, the next essential innovation I foresee in 2021 is CRISPR genetic modifying. CRISPR represents "clustered frequently interspaced short palindromic repeat." It's a mouthful. But it's one of the most exciting advancements in biotechnology.
