Functions of GSIC • Support the State Govt to incentivize innovation in the State; • Encourage talent at the individual level as also colleges and universities, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), R&D Institutes, etc. at the institutional level; • Help create innovation eco-systems; • Explore opportunities for innovation in the State; • Reward talent in innovation and disseminate success stories; • Organize seminars, workshops and discourses on innovation; • Create the State Innovation Portal towards furthering awareness; • Organize risk capitals for promoting entrepreneurship; • To evolve a mechanism to protect innovations through IPRs; and • Prepare an Innovation Roadmap for the State.

Action Plan • To register GSIC under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 • To undertake a study of the Innovation Performance to analyze strengths, opportunities, future trends and requirements. • To conduct ongoing stakeholder suggestions to get a broader understanding of the needs of the innovation eco-system.

  27. Action Plan • To hold deliberations and discussions to produce key policy interventions and suggestions needed to encourage innovation • To prepare a Background Paper • To prepare the Final Roadmap consisting of(i) Whitepaper (50-100 pages) and(ii) Executive Summary with key recommendations.
