Course Structure • Each module is worth 15 credits • Students may apply for one of the following qualifications should they wish to withdraw at any time. • 120 credits: Certificate in Higher Education • 150 credits: Higher National Certificate • 240 credits: Foundation Degree • 360 credits: Honours Degree

  9. 1Design Principles for Product Development • Apply fundamental principles to take a product from initial concept to product development: • 60 credits

  10. 2 Materials • To understand the fundamental characteristics of polymer materials in order to select right material for a particular application • 45 credits

  11. 3 Process Technology & Applications • To understand the range of processes available & select appropriate process taking account of economics and quality • 45 credits

  12. 4:Mould Die and Tooling • Identify, specify and select appropriate tooling for the manufacture of a given product on a given process • 30 credits

  13. 5: Maintenance and Engineering Faults Analysis • Ability to systematically analyse faults and& carry out preventative maintenance • 15 credits

  14. 6: Process Optimisation • Recognising parameters which influence a process & achieving the most efficient solution to process requirements • 15 credits

  15. 7: Quality Management • Techniques for controlling & maintaining quality performance • 15 credits

What would the challenges be? • How flexible could your institution be in respect of the different delivery modes including distance/e-learning? What challenges would this present? • Would your institution be able to align its provision to a national, industry standard framework based on common learning outcomes, common content & assessment strategies? • What issues do you perceive in relation to consortium working? Eg aligning content, CAT, validation arrangements, transferability, entering into an MOU/franchise arrangement for the delivery of materials available in another institution
