Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences The Hyperion reactor, or the Gen4, is a nuclear reactor that seeks to provide a safer one by occurring in an underground vault to which will not be threatened by the outside environment, from tampering, and from natural disasters. It also seeks to provide a simple reactor as it uses a small modular reactor so that it delivers 25 MWe continuously for 10 years without the need of refueling.
