I Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood`, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

  3. Worship as homage or grateful submission Genesis 24:26-27, 52 – The man bowed his head and worshiped the LORD and said, Blessed be the LORD, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the LORD has led me in the way to the house of my master’s kinsmen. When Abraham’s servant heard their words, he bowed himself to the earth before the LORD.

  4. Worship as homage or grateful submission Exodus 4:31 29 – ThenMoses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the people of Israel. Aaron spoke all the words that the LORD had spoken to Moses and did the signs in the sight of the people. And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped.

  5. Worship as homage or grateful submission Judges 7:15 – As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, Arise, for the LORD has given the host of Midian into your hand.

  6. Worship as service Exodus 3:12 – He said, But I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.

  7. Worship as service Deut. 6:13 – It is the LORD your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.

Worship as service Deut. 4:19 – And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the LORD your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven

  9. Worship as reverence or respect Malachi 3:16 – Then those who feared the LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the LORD and esteemed his name.

  10. Worship as reverence or respect Deut. 8:6 – So you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.

  11. Worship as reverence or respect Prov. 3:7 – Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil.

  12. Worship is a life orientation with outward manifestation Worship in the sanctuary is an overflow of worship in the ordinary.

  13. Adam’s worship Psalm 19 1 The heavens declare the glory of God,    and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.2 Day to day pours out speech,   and night to night reveals knowledge.3 There is no speech, nor are there words,   whose voice is not heard.4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,   and their words to the end of the world.

Tell me, if you have understanding.Who determined its measurements — surely you know!   Or who stretched the line upon it? On what were its bases sunk, or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

  16. Romans 1:25 – Mankind exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

  17. Psalm 115:8 – Those who make them become like them; so do all who trust in them.
