  4. Pericardial cysts are benign intrathoracic lesions that are considered to be congenital, ‘’but may also be acquired after cardiothoracic surgery’’.

  5. Failure of fusion of one of the mesenchymal lacunae that form the pericardial sac.

  6. They are usually found incidentally upon CXR and typically cause few symptoms. Their true incidence is unknown.

  7. Multi-slice CT can have a great impact on the detection of pericardium diseases such as a pericardial cyst.

  8. A rhabdomyoma such as other malignant pathologies was within a multilocularcyst.

  9. Surgical treatment of pericardial cysts may be reserved for pts who have severe symptoms due to complications, or when diagnosis is uncertain and malignancy is suspected.

  10. In one study (Review article): The mean age was 50.4±17 years with a female-to-male ratio of 2. Pericardial cyst were located in the right hemithorax in 67% pts and left hemithorax in 33% pts. The cysts were resected by thoracotomy in 33% pts and by video-assisted thoracic surgery in 67% pts.

  11. There was an excellent long-term follow-up with no morbidity or mortality, So videothoracoscopicsurgical removal of pericardial cysts is an excellent surgical intervention without serious morbidity and mortality.

  12. A complicated case of pericardial cyst manifesting as constrictive pericarditis. Dicle University, Diyarbakir, Turkey. A 55-year-old man is presented in whom a pericardial cyst located in the right cardiophrenic angle anterior to the RV ruptured into the pericardial sac, resulting in constrictive pericarditis.
