  3. Coming to school • If you walk there's the lollypop lady, cycling paths and parking at the front. • You can also chat on the way. • For smaller kids they can do a walking bus • 2 parents 1 at each end suggest it to your parents.

  4. Green flags • We have 3 green flags already. • To make it 4 we need to travel to school in an environmentally friendly way. • For example carpooling, walking, public transport & cycling.

  5. Scoil Na Mainistreach a green school • Scoil Na Mainistreach is known for the 3 Rs {reduce, reuse & recycle}. • We have our recycle bins at the field & the ones in the car park. • We have mecons on our toilets. • Our first green flag we got in 2005 for waste management our second was in 2007

  6. Cycle to school • Cycling to school is good for the environment. • It saves petrol. • You get good exercise. • It’s good for your mental health and physical health.

  7. Walk to school • Walking to school keeps you fit & helps you with a diet. • You get fresh air its good for stress, lungs, health & mind.

  8. Carpooling • Carpooling is when you and a friend all go in the same car. • Your parents could take it in turns. • It helps the environment make less traffic saves money & you can chat on the way.

  9. Public transport • Public transport is cheap & environmentally friendly. • You can go with friends & family. • One double decker bus can hold the same amount of people as 40 cars you do the maths.

  10. What can you do to help? • Walking can really help us less cars mean less pollution. • Cycling means you get exercise fresh air and no pollution. • Carpooling can make less cars on the road. • Don’t forget public transport it cost little & its your choice. • You can do a walking bus.

  11. An Taisce are an organisation who look after the environment and award the green flags. • So be nice to them if you want that green flag ha-ha lol {laugh out loud } .

  12. Our progress • 40% go in a car • 35% walk • 23% cycle • 2% get the bus

  13. 500 phones • We got a cool Promethian interactive white board you will get to use them in 6th class. • We got our 500 phones we go our new board. Just so you no we are still collecting. • We are still collecting so we can get another.

  14. Boards for Phones • Interactive Whiteboards can be installed in your schools for a donation of 500 old mobile phones. You can turn your waste into a valuable piece of technology for any classroom. • The recycling of old cell phones is crucial element of Environmental Awareness and Care. Keeping old mobile phones out of landfill is an important part of protecting and conserving our natural resources.

  15. What can you do in your class? • You can get a recycling bin. • You can get a paper we can use again box. • Turn off lights in your class when you go on yard. • Use jars or milk cartons for cleaning brushes. • Use both sides of a sheet.

  16. New around the school. • Well you’ve probably noticed the digger they’re making beds for every class in the school you can plant spuds and lots of different foods. • The smell of manure is to help the soil because the soil isn't the best well either would you if thousands of kids walked on you. sorry
