Paradoxical decrease in HDL-C with combination therapy

This case study presents a paradoxical decrease in high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) in a 55-year-old male civil servant undergoing combination therapy for hyperlipidemia. Despite the treatment, the patient's HDL-C levels did not improve, raising concerns about the efficacy and safety of the prescribed therapy. The patient had a BMI of 29 kg/m² with no significant past medical history or family history of hyperlipidemia, and exhibited notably high total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. This case highlights the need for careful monitoring of lipid profiles in patients undergoing therapy.
