  2. Miscellaneous Parts Alligator Clips Pan Head Screws ¼” Hex Bolt Machine Bolt Washers Wood Screws

  3. Parts Enamel Coated Magnet Wire 20 gauge Bell Wire (solid) 18 gauge Sheet Metal Strap

  4. Framework Switch Block 2 ½” x 4 ½” x ¾” Sounder Arm 7 ½” x ¾” x 5/8” ¼” Dowel Rod

  5. Telegraph Frame 3 ¾” x 6 ¾” x ¾” 7/8” x 3 1/8” – cut out 3 ¾” x 4 ½” x ¾” 3 ¾” x 4 ½” x ¾” 3 ¾” x ¾” x ¾” ¼” Hole 2 ¼” x 2” x ¾” 8 - 1 ½’ wood screws 3 ¾” x 6 ¾” x ¾”

  6. 6 volt lantern battery

  7. Electrical Tape

  8. Making Electro Magnet STEP 1: Put large washer on hex bolt

  9. STEP 2: Wrap hex bolt with electrical tape Leave ½” unwrapped at bottom

  10. STEP 3: Wind magnet wire around bolt

  11. Keep windings neat, tight 5-6 layers of magnet wire

  12. STEP 4: Sandpaper end of magnet wire (sand away ½” enamel)

  13. STEP 5: Screw bolt in top of framework

  14. Finished Electro magnet

  15. Making Telegraph Switch

  16. STEP 1: Cut two pieces of black bell wire, equal lengths

  17. STEP 2: Strip wire ½”

  18. STEP 3: Make a hook in wire

  19. STEP 4: Fasten wire and strap metal to wood

  20. STEP 5: Screw into place

  21. STEP 6: Fasten bell wire at other end of switch block

  22. STEP 7: Screw in place

  23. Completed Telegraph Switch

  24. Attaching alligator clip STEP 1: Insert bell wire into alligator clip

  25. STEP 2: Wrap bell wire around screw

  26. STEP 3: Tighten screw on alligator clip

  27. STEP 4: Add alligator clips to both bell wires

  28. Attaching Electro Magnet to Telegraph switch STEP 1: Fasten magnet wire, bell wire to framework

  29. STEP 2: Screw in place

  30. STEP 3: Fasten magnet wire, bell wire to framework

  31. Completed wiring to telegraph switch

  32. Completed Electro magnet wiring

  33. Making Sounder Arm 7 ½” x ¾” x 5/8”

  34. STEP 1: Screw in bolt

  35. STEP 2: Insert sounder arm into framework

  36. STEP 3: Insert dowel rod into framework

  37. Completed telegraph sounder

  38. Place top on telegraph sounder

  39. Hinge top to telegraph sounder Hinge 1 ½ x 1 ½”

  40. Leave 1/8” gap between electro magnet and bolt

  41. Completed Telegraph
