Otherwise refer to the text. • First time through, just watch. • Second time annotate the text for: • Author’s use of ethos, logos, pathos • SOAPSTone (specific emphasis on the purpose and the message of the poem). • What appeal (ethos, logos, pathos) is the strongest? How does the speaker appeal to the audience? • Explain whether or not the argument is effective for the author’s purpose.

  4. Turn in ICTW’s • Remember, you will only have 4 total this week. • If you are missing ICTW’s you need to make those up.

  5. Free Response Scoring • Get out the scoring guide (from Wednesday) and the packet of student papers… • Same process. Write your justifications on that separate sheet of paper.

  6. HOMEWORK: Due MondayThe Language of Composition Read pages 89-99 On a separate sheet of paper, answer questions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 9, from page 100 (Questions on Rhetoric and Style). If you did the “Comprehension” questions you can turn them in for extra credit.

  7. Textbook Checkout • Yes, you will need your own copy. • Yes, you will also need to bring it to class.
